SOCIAL STUDIES ASSIGNMENT- due T2, Wk 1

Hey everyone! Here are some fantastic articles that you can refer to closely for the group assignment:

1) The Straits Times, Thursday, Feb 28 2008, H15 (page): “How to keep the pie growing yet care for the needy”

2) The Straits Times, Thursday, Feb 28 2008, H20 (page): “Public Sector re-hiring more elderly stuff”

3) Also go & find out about this really well-established org in Singapore, if it helps you: The Women’s Initiative for Ageing Successfully

• What can you learn about the fact that we even have such an org in Singapore?
• Do you know one the greatest supporters of the above mentioned group is noneother that our MM- Mr Lee Kuan Yew. What can you infer from this?

Good luck with the assignment! Use your creative juices alright! Get some interviews, surveys etc. done ok. For your presentation, you can choose to role play, write a report, do a pwrpt presentation or even play a game with us, to get us all acquainted with your findings! Also, let’s not just see words, words & more words in your work… how about pie charts, bar graphs etc. Think about it… la la la…

 Hey everyone! Pls take note of the work that we have gone through today. There are 2 attachments: A good SBQ (pol cartoon), from one of the study groups + the revision for the Treaty of Versailles that we went through in class today. For the revision of TOV that we did in class, pls make sure you add in your own points also. What I have given is not all the points, there are still some more which we had verbally discussed in class today.

Also go online (www.google.com / www.yahoo.com) & type “Treaty of Versailles”, under images & look at all the different political cartoons there are. Familiarise yourself with them! Read more about the Treaty online as well! 🙂
